Therapy for Individuals

I enjoy working with people from all walks of life who are feeling unsure about their place in the world. Many people I work with often feel alienated from others and challenged in relationships. You may have wondered if you are “codependent,” if something happened to you that you can’t remember, or even if you are fundamentally different from other human beings.

Often, these experiences have something to do with the past - with relational trauma experienced in family systems, dating, marriage, and other social relationships - and other experiences of trauma that can go under the radar, leading us to lose touch with our emotional center without even realizing it.

As a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, I am especially interested in probing the past for clues about what is happening in the present, while also acknowledging and holding space for the many external factors that also impact us: for example, alienating social conditions; lack of support for parents and caregivers; and anxiety about the state of the world often leave many of us feeling untethered and disconnected.

I have helped my patients to:

  • Accept and integrate parts of themselves they previously feared or hid

  • Unpack histories of trauma in a safe manner and understand the impact these experiences had

  • Free themselves from compulsive behaviors caused by repressed parts or experiences

  • Integrate experiences or acts they previously could not find ways to comprehend or accept

  • Allow and listen to their true feelings and desires

  • Connect more deeply to others through self-acceptance and reduced black-and-white thinking

  • Reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD and complex PTSD, and more
